New nuclear power declaration strengthens cooperation in Baltic Sea region

SWEDEN, October 10 - Published

In connection with the International Nordic-Baltic Nuclear Investment Summit held in Stockholm on 7 October 2025, several countries endorsed a joint written statement on the significant role of nuclear power in the energy system.

Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch hosted the high-level conference together with several of her ministerial colleagues, with Finland’s Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala as co-organiser.

The Summit brought together a number of ministers and high-level representatives from Sweden’s neighbouring countries, along with industry representatives, suppliers and potential investors in new nuclear power. The discussions concerned the conditions for effective expansion of new nuclear power in the region and how we together can re-establish competitive supply chains.

In connection with the Summit, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Poland and Sweden endorsed a joint written statement that pointed to the potential of nuclear power in our region to boost energy security, make electricity prices more competitive and help phase out fossil energy.
